THE ACADEMY AWARDS FASHION: THE VERDICT!

OK! I'm back for the Academy Awards fashion. And I must say this is an improvement from last year wherein Cate Blanchett was the sure win for best dressed. This year, everyone stepped up and was close to winning my best dressed. What's shocking is just like last year, this year's best dressed is not even nominated. I guess it's because their heads are clear from the nervousness of the competition. If you've been following me on twitter (twitter.com/marknessgel) you already know who she is!

Best Dressed:
Gwyneth Paltrow in Tom Ford: This is from the super secret Tom Ford Fall 2012 presentation held in London. My gosh! The cape is killing me!!!! It's soooo gorgeous!!!! i love this, a very fashion forward yet minimalist and clean look. If this is what's on Tom Ford's collection this season, then we should all save our money and go buy some of the dresses!!!! Tres chic!!!
Second best dressed: Angelina Jolie in Atelier Versace. I love the fact that she was smiling and posing like a young actress and working that slit! She looks gorgeous as always!!!! She was posing like she was possessed by Blake Lively and Megan Fox! You go girl! :) I also love the fact that Angelina randomly picked tthis dress (out of a hat). She's that gorgeous that whatever she picks, it still looks great on her.
3rd Best Dressed: Rooney Mara in Givenchy Spring 2009 Couture --> This girl just gets it! She maintains this ever since "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" promo tour. This is the epitome of minimalist couture! Rooney Mara is surely a star to watch not just in acting but in fashion. I expect more magazine covers for her so that she'll be more exposed to expanding her style. Maybe a bit of jewelry? :)
4th Best Dressed: Michelle Williams in Louis Vuitton- I super love this coral number!!! I just think it complements but upgrades that "quirky" style of hers! I can't explain it but we all agree she's in our best dressed list right? :)
5th Best Dressed: Emma Stone in Giambattista Valli Couture and now...
Please compare and contrast. Nicole Kidman in Balenciaga at Oscars 2006. This dress is so iconic I can't believe Emma Stone had the guts to wear that. But, I TOLD YOU BEFORE ABOUT GIAMBATTISTA VALLI RIGHT? His collection is a rip-off of every red carpet trend that works. Remember his first ever couture collection? Now visit his Spring 2012 couture. God, another fashion show composed of rip-offs. So sad. But Emma saves this with the styling. I SUPER LOVE THE VUITTON CHAIN BRACELET!

Those are my 5 best dressed. Now the others are special mention in the bestness or the worstness of their dresses. ;) YOU DECIDE!
Melanie Griffith in Yves Saint Laurent - I love it. The boobs need support though :) It's a bit slanted?
Sandra Bullock in Marchesa -meh! Boring.
Anna Farris in Diane Von Furstenburg- Looks like a shining garbage bag or something. If it was sleeveless and had a great sporty cut on the neck it would've been gorge for sure!
Berenice Bejo in Elie Saab- another sleeve story and it makes her look old. Sorry.
Jennifer Lopez in Zuhair Muhrad - it looks like a Grammy Dress doesn't it. Should've worn something you bought JLo. :)
Shailene Woodley in Valentino Couture --- sleeves sleeves sleeves! It's cold that's why! And it makes her look old doesn't it? Wish she would've gone Marchesa or Givenchy or those finale Prabal Gurung fall 2012 dresses. :(
Busey Philips in Dolce and Gabbana- It's a great maxidress not appropriate for the Academy's (just my thought)
Cameron Diaz in Gucci Premiere - great dress! I'm starting to like her hair. It's actually her hair that prevented her from getting into my top 5. I wish it was a little bit longer. :) Still love Cameron though. WE SHARE THE SAME BIRTHDAY!!! WOOT! WOOT!
Ellie Kemper in Armani Prive - Di ko mawari ang kulay gel! It means I can't figure out the color!!! it's rusty, it's copper, it's gold, it's Armani bow! :)))
Glenn Close in Zac Posen -Zac! You go girl! I love this with or without the blazer! The blazer's a nice touch of being comfy because it was getting cold (according to the red carpet reporters!)
Jessica Chastain in Alexander McQueen - Cameron Diaz was #6 and Jessica was #7 on my best dressed! This is a risk that worked! I just loved it! She's been on a McQueen tour lately and this is the perfect way to go out with a bang! :)
Kristen Wiig in J Mendel - fits her personality actually. I love the fact that Kristen is so MEYNTEYN in her Cali girl image and making it very glamorous! I love the fact that her nails are black! I love it! The hair is just relaxed and I'm fine with that. :)
Melissa McCarthy in Marina Rinaldi- Don't worry I don't know who Marina Rinaldo is too! :))) It looks like a 70's prom dress though. But I love the bejeweled parts. :)
Meryl Streep in Lanvin -FINALLY! SHE WON! I believe she should've won for The Devil Wears Prada though. But she was amazing in The Iron Lady. She is dedicated to every part she plays and it is very recognized! I super love this dress to! It's that appropriate for her age but too glamorous that only she can wear it! :)
Mila Jovovich in Elie Saab- Love the shoulder pad!
Natalie Portman in Vintage Dior -How vintage? 1954 VINTAGE! YES, MR. CHRISTIAN DIOR HIMSELF MADE THIS DRESS! I LOOVE IT! Natalie is #8 on my best dressed list! :) You go Nina!
Octavia Spencer in Tadashi Shoji- Brand ambasadress much? Well, I don't hate don't love this dress but I must say it takes full commitment to wear a dress by one designer to all the awards events. YOU GO OCTAVIA! CONDRAGULATIONS!
Penelope Cruz in Giorgio Armani- Princess si Mars! Kfine! The color is gorgeous though! :)
Rose Byrne in Vivienne Westwood - Take notes Anna Faris. This is how to wear a sequin gown. I super love her hairrr. Drama mode! Meynteyn lang! :) Fashion forward as always!  #9 on my best dressed!
Stacey Keibler in Marchesa - I still remember Stacey sashaying on the WWE ring and entering with those long legs and teasing the audience with her small butt. How time's changed. She completes my best dressed list as #10. I super love the dress. Trophy girlfriend = panindigan!

Tina Fey in Carolina Herrera - I love this! Simple yet elegant! Tina looks beautiful here!!!!
Viola Davis in Vera Wang - I seriously thought Viola was thinking she won because when Colin Firth announced the winner, Viola stood up first before Meryl. Feeling much? Kudos to her for wearing her real hair! You go girl! soooo empowering! And I love the dress how the taffeta and then the chiffon just goes like that! Super adore! good job Vera! :)

Til the next pose! ;)
