Lorde in Celine Sunglasses

I love Lorde. I love her album "Pure Heroine." I'm not too keen on her style but when I saw her sunglasses, I was like damn! BECAUSE I WANTED THOSE SUNNIES! REALLY REALLY BADLY!

Here she is in Celine Papillon Sunglasses.

 

Review:

So I love Phoebe Philo, I love Celine handbags and definitely loving Celine's new range of sunglasses. Celine started out with "Original" which is a square wayfarer which I was not crazy. Until they unveiled those amazing clear with different color palettes on the temples. The Audrey one was the sunnies I was crazy, then they came out with a lot of sunnies like ZZ Top, New Pretty, those chain temples and now this Papillon.

Papillon means butterfly in French and I gues they have a butterfly shape. I think when Celine does something, it becomes a classic. They are a variation of the Emmanuelle Khan cat eye sunglasses that were spotted in Rihanna's "You Da One" and on Doutzen Kroes (Google them) Zac Posen also made his own version with Illesteva named "Safari" and now Celine does it with Papillon. Oh wait, UNIF also has their own with Shadys model. (PS Don't buy them on Dollskill) So that's a lot of houses making the same style of sunnies (yes, that's how addicted I am. I do my research. LOL.)

As for this, they are a softer version. Wait til you see the others. OK, I'll upload them!

See? Celine Papillon is the least pointiest right? LOLS.

Anyways, when I saw them I never thought Lorde would be the one I first spotted them in. I really thought Anna dello Russo would wear them first or Rihanna. Oh well.

I love them and they look great on her!

Isabel Marant x Oliver Peoples

Didn't I tell you? Wahahaha! Well, Isabel Marant already said it so it's not like it was a fashion scoop exclusively by us but now you get to see the real thing. We saw 2 shapes, an oversized round one and an aviator one. So, there's not much to it. And they retail for $365.

"  On the heels of his 2010 collaboration with Balmain, Oliver Peoples has now joined forces with Parisian designer Isabel Marant to create a limited-edition collection of sunglasses. Available from February, the collection takes cues from Isabel Marant’s rock ‘n’ roll romantic aesthetic with two pairs of sunglasses designed with a distinctly seventies vibe.  As for the designs, ‘Daria’, boasting a round, slightly oversized  shape and ‘Matt’, boasting a twist on the classic aviator, will both be available to customize with one of five colored lens choices ranging from pink to light gray. Each is sold with a sunglasses box, fabric pouch and cleaning cloth featuring Marant’s favorite character, Mr Hatman, making the result a stylish mini collection with a distinctly Californian feel – just in time for Marant to celebrate the one-year anniversary of her LA store.

The Isabel Marant x Oliver Peoples’ sunglasses are €365 each and will be available from February in Isabel Marant boutiques, Oliver Peoples’ stores and select international vendors."

So for the price it says 365 EUR so I'm not sure about 365 USD although I've read somewhere that it's 425 USD. I don't know why it's that expensive. Maybe the lenses are quite expensive.

Here are the designs:
The round oversized are named "Daria" after Daria Werbowy I guess. Hehehe
And the aviator is called "Matt" I don't know why maybe it's the name of her son.

So if you know me, you know I'm quite disappointed. The shapes are tired and boring. I wish it had the Isabel Marant aesthetic which is taking something that's there and raising it to a whole new level. She should't have gone for the safe route. Well, anyways thet do are effortless styles like Isabel Marant. I mean the Balmain for Oliver Peoples were amazing. I wish Isabel would do a second collection.

Beyonce in Prada

Beyonce and Jay-Z went on a 22-day vegan diet just cause. Anyways, I find it weird that while going to vegan restaurants she wore leather pieces in animal prints. Kinda hypocritical don't you think? Well who am I to judge? I love meat. Although I've tried vegan restaurants and some are quite good. Maybe you can check them out. Nothing wrong with that. So here she is in a cow print sweater from Givenchy PreFall 2013 and some amazing Prada Fall 2013 sunglasses!

I have talked about these pair before saying they are inspired by the Miu Miu Noir. I will not retract that because it does. BUT I LOVE THEM! Haven't tried them on but I love the shape. It's a great cateye/wayfarer hybrid. I adore it! I already have a long list of Prada sunglasses on my wishlist and it looks like I'm adding another pair. HAIST! POVERTY!

I am so in love with it, I am giving it 5 out of 5 stars - PERFECT! PERFECTO! MAGNIFIQUE!

Wood Sunglasses (Woodzee and Robert Movadi Private Selection Wine Barrel Sunglasses)

There is a trend of sunglasses made of wood now. I think this is for the fact of environment conservation. Acetate is plastic and can be harmful (although Stella McCartney has been releasing sustainable ones but they're just almost 50% sustainable) so I guess wood is the best way. But they are waterproof so don't worry. :)

So Woodzee collaborated with Winery Robert Mondavi Private Selection. They had their oak barrels become the material for the sunglasses. Each frame is distinctively tinted due to contact with the wine (of course they won't be consistent.)

One California winemaker has collaborated with a local sunglass company on a line of eyewear made from recycled wine barrels.
The $120 shades, which have been produced in limited-edition quantities, are even wine-tinted - courtesy of the barrels’ former life as a wine aging receptacle.

Winery Robert Mondavi Private Selection, based off of the Central Californian Coast, decided to lend his oak barrels to a higher purpose.

The label has teamed up with Woodzee, a California-based eyeglass company that has previously turned the likes of skateboard decks and bamboo reeds into wooden frames.
The result of their union is a unisex pair of glasses, designed in a Wayfarer-type shape.
The glasses come in four lens colors: bronze, grey, reflective blue, and reflective green.
Each includes a barrel logo on its temple as a sign of its recycled past.

The glasses’ oak wood barrel frames are even ‘distinctively’ tinted, thanks to their contact with the wine label’s Coastal Crush Red variety.

‘Working with Robert Mondavi Private Selection was a natural fit,’ Woodzee co-founder Luke Winter said in a release.

Winemaking is so tied to the earth, and we couldn’t wait to see how we could take the oak wine barrels and make something really exciting from them,’ he continued.The excitement is mutual. Robert Mondavi Private Selection Winemaker Rick Boyer said of Woodzee: ‘It’s been great giving the barrels a new life by recycling our wood for Woodzee sunglasses.’
The glasses will be available for purchase through Woodzee’s website.

Isabel Marant for Oliver Peoples Sunglasses

So, I announced this last month because Isabel Marant said so in her interview. While, no official announcement and photos have been released, I'm pretty sure you might be wondering what "very LA" sunglasses are. I was wise enough to look at the backstage shots of the Isabel Marant Spring 2014 show and lo and behold. I found them!

So far,  I see two shapes: round and aviators in lightly tinted lens, rose colored lens (obsessed with that) and gold mirrored lens (obsessed with that as well). They're not the most ground breaking but it fits the Marant boho rocker chic vibe. I think there will only be 2 styles. If we recall the Balmain x Oliver Peoples collection, there were only 2 as well so I think this will be the same for this one. Although I am wishing for an acetate pair like some cat eye/wayfarer hybrid shape. I'm a sucker for those.

Illesteva x Lou Reed Sunglasses

So Illesteva collaborated with Lou Reed for these pair of sunglasses which are available in other colors. Being exposed to a lot of sunglasses, I saw that it was SUPER SUPER DUPER SIMILAR to Westward Leaning's sunglasses. The difference is that Westward Leaning had a design on the temples, mostly less expensive than Illesteva and you get to help a charity with every purchase. Have a look and see.

So, which one do you prefer? I prefer the Westwards because they look more shaped, and got more choices. Plus, the fact that you get to help a charity for every purchase is a plus! :)

ISABEL MARANT SUNGLASSES!

WHAAAAATTTTT????? This is like gonna be the coolest thing ever!

Isabel Marant held a barbecue on her Melrose Place Store to celebrate its one year of storing the coolest pieces on the planet. Fashionista covered the event and had this to write:

"Like the best hostess, Marant floated around the party throughout the night, seemingly hugging and kissing everyone. When we finally caught up with her, she told us she spends most of her time as “a working beast in Paris,” currently working on her Fall 2014 collection and a sunglasses collaboration with Oliver Peoples for the Spring/Summer collection, which she calls “very L.A.”

OMG! I literally died! A sunglasses collection from Isabel! I wonder what they would look like? The last designer collab with Oliver Peoples was Balmain and they were super expensive, BTW. I wonder how this would fare. Who's excited? What do you think will the collection look like? Can't wait for 2014! :D

Salma Hayek in Balenciaga

This is just some ID for the sunglasses.

Salma Hayek, the first lady of fashion, is here watching Balenciaga Spring 2014 show. Why she's the first lady of fashion? Because she's married to Francois Henri Pinault, owner of PPR now Kering. And they have a daughter, Valentina. Wise girl! jk! She's wearing a Balenciaga Fall 2013 dress with a Balenciaga sunglasses.

If you guys are big Balenciaga fans, you would know these are an update of the Spring 2011 sunglasses as seen on Gisele Bundchen. Search for it.

I love the sunnies! So there. I don't know where to buy them yet. I'm guessing balenciaga.com or your nearest Balenciaga stores. :)

Eva Mendes in Vogue Eyewear

Eva looks fun and feminine in this dress she designed for New York & Company. She spoke about her designs saying she wants "something classic and that everyone would buy. Not very trendy and something you can wear for seasons." Judging from this look, I have to agree. It is a dress that can be styled young and mature. And she has Ryan Gosling, you go gurl!

Just from the photo, I knew right there and then that they wore Vogue sunglasses for the sole reason of the color combo. I have seen it and I loved it. And she is also the endorser of Vogue eyewear so there. :D

She's wearing the Vogue 2795/S from the new collection. It's a basic cat eye/wayfarer hybrid that's still good with the great color combo. They also have a full purple/lilac and full turquoise colors. Love them! Buy them here.

Gwen is seen here looking stylish (like always) and I'm sure you know what sunglasses she is wearing by now. It's VERSACE.
This pair has been spotted on a lot of celebs like Rihanna, Rita Ora, and Emma Stone. Obviously, Gwen works them the most. This looks like a 5 out of 5 pair already! :)

So these are the Versace 4253 sunglasses. What can I say? They're a great variation to the cat eye shape and that Versace Medusa and Greek detail on the temples is screaming "VERSACE!" And I can't help but covet it. If you want it too, buy them at Otticanet right here.
