Isabel Marant x Oliver Peoples

Didn't I tell you? Wahahaha! Well, Isabel Marant already said it so it's not like it was a fashion scoop exclusively by us but now you get to see the real thing. We saw 2 shapes, an oversized round one and an aviator one. So, there's not much to it. And they retail for $365.

"  On the heels of his 2010 collaboration with Balmain, Oliver Peoples has now joined forces with Parisian designer Isabel Marant to create a limited-edition collection of sunglasses. Available from February, the collection takes cues from Isabel Marant’s rock ‘n’ roll romantic aesthetic with two pairs of sunglasses designed with a distinctly seventies vibe.  As for the designs, ‘Daria’, boasting a round, slightly oversized  shape and ‘Matt’, boasting a twist on the classic aviator, will both be available to customize with one of five colored lens choices ranging from pink to light gray. Each is sold with a sunglasses box, fabric pouch and cleaning cloth featuring Marant’s favorite character, Mr Hatman, making the result a stylish mini collection with a distinctly Californian feel – just in time for Marant to celebrate the one-year anniversary of her LA store.

The Isabel Marant x Oliver Peoples’ sunglasses are €365 each and will be available from February in Isabel Marant boutiques, Oliver Peoples’ stores and select international vendors."

So for the price it says 365 EUR so I'm not sure about 365 USD although I've read somewhere that it's 425 USD. I don't know why it's that expensive. Maybe the lenses are quite expensive.

The round oversized are named "Daria" after Daria Werbowy I guess. Hehehe
And the aviator is called "Matt" I don't know why maybe it's the name of her son.

So if you know me, you know I'm quite disappointed. The shapes are tired and boring. I wish it had the Isabel Marant aesthetic which is taking something that's there and raising it to a whole new level. She should't have gone for the safe route. Well, anyways thet do are effortless styles like Isabel Marant. I mean the Balmain for Oliver Peoples were amazing. I wish Isabel would do a second collection.

Why was Jean Paul Gaultier’s Spring 2014 Couture Collection not featured in Style.com?

The drama was not only in the clothes but also among industry insiders.

So everyone knows that to check out runway photos, you go to Style.com. This is why Style.com editors are always present in every show so they can review it. And with every review, there will always be a positive and of course, the negative which they all try to avoid.

While we were all drooling over clothes that we can never afford during the presentation of the Spring 2014 couture (we were also making checklists as to who will wear what to the Oscars), I noticed that on Style.com’s front page, Jean Paul Gaultier was not on the list. Jean Paul Gaultier presented his Spring 2014 couture collection on the same day as Armani Prive, Maison Martin Margiela, and Elie Saab. So, it’s quite shocking not to see Gaultier in the list.

Well, we can assume one reason. It was Tim Blank’s review of Gaultier’s Fall 2013 couture collection. So here’s what’s written on Style.com: “Jean Paul Gaultier works a theme like a last nerve.... Benattia (a French comedian Gaultier casted) seemed a bit down-market.... A few outfits later, a ‘millefeuille de mousselines’ echoed Yves Saint Laurent's way with color, as a reminder that Gaultier was once considered the one true heir to the throne of French fashion. But that was once upon a time, and that time has, sad to say, well and truly passed.”

Gaultier responded with an open letter. Here it is:
“Dear Tim,

Once upon a time you liked my shows “but that time has truly passed” and I respect it. But the Tim I knew before would never have made the attacks that are more personal than proffesional [sic]. I always had girls in my shows from different social strata, treating someone as down-market is cheap.

In future, rather than be bored at my shows, you can use that time to do something else, for example brush up on your fashion history so you’ll kow that “mille feuille de mousseline” didn’t echo Saint Laurent, it was inspired by a Nina Ricci dress from 1967 in homage to Gerard Pipard who recently passed away.

If you’re nostalgic for the time when I was considered the one true heir to the throne of French fashion please buy a ticket for my exhibition now in Stockhold [sic] and soon in Brooklyn and London. Good Visit.

So maybe it was only Tim Blanks who was available for Gaultier’s show and he passed instead. But if you want a head scratcher, Tim Blanks reviewed Gaultier’s Spring 2014 ready to wear. While we all love drama, let’s all hope that no one was just available to review or the photographer of Style.com ran out of memory or something. I am hoping to see the photos and the details on Style.com especially since Dita Von Teese walked in the show. And of course, the clothes looked amazing as well. :)

GRAMMY AWARDS 2014

To be honest, there is not much to say. There were only a few people in the event actually. But, Madonna was there. No GaGa, Miley, or Rihanna in sight. They know they can't match the queen. Beyonce tried and failed.

Madonna in Ralph Lauren- She was with his adopted son David Banda who was also wearing Ralph Lauren. She took it to another level with the gloves, hat, and cane. Love it!

She performed Open Your Heart with Macklemore, Ryan Lewis and Mary Lambert for Same Love while Queen Latifah officiated the wedding of 33 gay and straight couples. It was a moving performance. As expected from the Queen. She also wore Ralph Lauren, 

Screen Actors Guild SAG Awards 2014

So this year's SAG Awards happened and thank God there were a lot of irrelevant people so this post will just be kinda short. My best dressed for this event got me all blue...

 AMY ADAMS IN ANTONIO BERARDI- I love the color on her skin. Wish I had flawless and glowing skin like her. I love the architectural design and the hair. She's knocking it out of the park.

This awards show was pretty easy because there were only a few best dresses, others were meh and the rest was bleh.... :))

The 71st Golden Globe Awards

So it's awards season and it's my fave time of the year. Seeing all the stars all glammed up and seeing them produce red carpet moments or hot messes. It's fun to watch! :)

There were a lot of stars so stay with me on this one! :)
Last year, my best dressed was Marion Cotillard in a red Dior dress and this year, another lady in red Dior made my best dressed. :)

Beyonce in Prada

Beyonce and Jay-Z went on a 22-day vegan diet just cause. Anyways, I find it weird that while going to vegan restaurants she wore leather pieces in animal prints. Kinda hypocritical don't you think? Well who am I to judge? I love meat. Although I've tried vegan restaurants and some are quite good. Maybe you can check them out. Nothing wrong with that. So here she is in a cow print sweater from Givenchy PreFall 2013 and some amazing Prada Fall 2013 sunglasses!

I have talked about these pair before saying they are inspired by the Miu Miu Noir. I will not retract that because it does. BUT I LOVE THEM! Haven't tried them on but I love the shape. It's a great cateye/wayfarer hybrid. I adore it! I already have a long list of Prada sunglasses on my wishlist and it looks like I'm adding another pair. HAIST! POVERTY!

I am so in love with it, I am giving it 5 out of 5 stars - PERFECT! PERFECTO! MAGNIFIQUE!

Wood Sunglasses (Woodzee and Robert Movadi Private Selection Wine Barrel Sunglasses)

There is a trend of sunglasses made of wood now. I think this is for the fact of environment conservation. Acetate is plastic and can be harmful (although Stella McCartney has been releasing sustainable ones but they're just almost 50% sustainable) so I guess wood is the best way. But they are waterproof so don't worry. :)

So Woodzee collaborated with Winery Robert Mondavi Private Selection. They had their oak barrels become the material for the sunglasses. Each frame is distinctively tinted due to contact with the wine (of course they won't be consistent.)

One California winemaker has collaborated with a local sunglass company on a line of eyewear made from recycled wine barrels.
The $120 shades, which have been produced in limited-edition quantities, are even wine-tinted - courtesy of the barrels’ former life as a wine aging receptacle.

Winery Robert Mondavi Private Selection, based off of the Central Californian Coast, decided to lend his oak barrels to a higher purpose.

The label has teamed up with Woodzee, a California-based eyeglass company that has previously turned the likes of skateboard decks and bamboo reeds into wooden frames.
The result of their union is a unisex pair of glasses, designed in a Wayfarer-type shape.
The glasses come in four lens colors: bronze, grey, reflective blue, and reflective green.
Each includes a barrel logo on its temple as a sign of its recycled past.

The glasses’ oak wood barrel frames are even ‘distinctively’ tinted, thanks to their contact with the wine label’s Coastal Crush Red variety.

‘Working with Robert Mondavi Private Selection was a natural fit,’ Woodzee co-founder Luke Winter said in a release.

Winemaking is so tied to the earth, and we couldn’t wait to see how we could take the oak wine barrels and make something really exciting from them,’ he continued.The excitement is mutual. Robert Mondavi Private Selection Winemaker Rick Boyer said of Woodzee: ‘It’s been great giving the barrels a new life by recycling our wood for Woodzee sunglasses.’
The glasses will be available for purchase through Woodzee’s website.
