Chanel Recalls Silk Scarves and Garments Due to Violation of Federal Flammability Standard

The following product safety recall was voluntarily conducted by the firm in cooperation with the CPSC. Consumers should stop using the product immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.
Name of Product: Chanel silk scarves, dresses, skirts and blouses
Units: About 120 scarves and 34 garments
Importer: Chanel Inc. of New York
Hazard: The garments fail to meet the federal flammability standard for wearing apparel, posing a fire hazard to consumers.
Incidents/Injuries: None
Description: The scarves, dresses, skirts and blouses are made of 100 percent silk and come in a variety of designs. Nearly all items were returned to Chanel in May 2010.
Sold at: Chanel Boutiques, Neiman Marcus and Maxfield stores for $430 to $3,650 in March and April 2010
Manufactured in: France or Italy
Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the garments and contact the firm to receive a full refund.
