Hey-ya!

Hey guys! I'm back! I needed that vacation from blogging. It's so invigorating and rejuvinating! Haha!

Anyways, did you guys watched the opening ceremony of the Olympics? I must say, The UK has a lot to be proud of. From what I've read, the SPICE GIRLS WILL PERFORM ON THE CLOSING CEREMONY! YAY! Despite Posh having second thoughts, I'm uber excited! Anyway, it was a night of theatrics, some comedy and the Queen on the parachute and even cleaning her own nails. Haha! But what I love most about the Olympics is Stella McCartney's outfit! Have a look!

I would die for that gold jacket and pants! Uber chic! It's true to the Stella McCartney look and we know they're made from sustainable materials! I'm dying of jealousy! :))

As you all know, Stella McCartney designed the GB Olympic uniform. Go Stella! :D

Like it or not, you consume fashion.

Every fashionista and fashionphile or even ordinary people know the movie "The Devil Wears Prada." And I think to the people who think people who work at fashion are beneath them or fashion people are dumb and airheads. Even to the people who say they hate fashion and they're above fashion, watch this video and shut up. Like it or not, you consume fashion. We have something to do with you, something so important that the truth is YOU ARE BENEATH THE FASHION INDUSTRY!

My Miu Miu Obsession

Hello Everyone!
It's a Monday. I'm not really a Monday person and I think my 4 years in UP insinuated that. We don't have classes on Monday. Our classes are either Tuesday/Thursday or Wednesday/Friday so I start the week at Tuesday. But now that being at work means 5 days a week, I should have cheerful Mondays now and so should you and I have something to show you that I'm sure will bring a smile to your face and start the week right!
It's the Miu Miu 2012 Sunglasses collection! Aren't they pretty? And they come in a lot of colors! AND MOSTLY WITH GLITTER! You know what they say... when in doubt, apply more glitter! And these sunnies do! They can perk a girl up now can they? I love them! I'm happy, now are you? :)

Happy Mondays everyone! :D

Madonna in Versace

There has been a lot of questions on who made the sunnies Madonna was wearing during the Girl Gone Wild music video and it took me quite a long time to figure it out and I finally found it! And I'm sure of it!
So... who made Madonna's sunglasses on the Girl Gone Wild music video?
Here are the pictures

HERE THEY ARE:

VERSACE VE 4213B - After careful examination, I am sure these are the sunnies! It also helps that I saw the stylist, Arianne Philips, in the same pair! Ha! Anyways, back to the sunnies, they contain that vintage look of Versace. Some Vintage Versace sunnies have those plaid designs to them and of course those studs scream "Versace" and that Versace name on the temples helps too! Anyway, I love the squarish wayfarer shape of this! It has a great fit in all faces and will not give you that "bug eye" look that everyone is annoyed now. My favorite color is the red pair but if you just want a pair of sunnies to protect you from the sun, go for the black but if you're a fashionista, go for the red! You can buy the sunnies here and here and here and here! :))

If these had the medusa, these would've been 5 out of 5 but it's alright so I'll give it a 4 out of 5.

And as a bonus. There's a part in the GGW video that just flashes for like half a second and I got a screenshot just for you, my loyal readers and Madonna fans! ;) It features the sexy Sean O'Pry and Jon Kortajarena! Oooh lala! Haha! Madonna sure knows how to pick 'em!

Jennifer Lopez in Celine

I have cold and cough at the same time! That's why I'm not able to post as much. Anyway, I'm becoming the new CSF (Celebrity Sunglasses Finder) haha! Anyway, if you have pics of celebs with sunglasses you want to identify, email it to me and I'll do my best to identify them.

So, here's JLo with some Celine Sunnies
These are Celine CL 41808/S in pink! It's that rare rectangular aviators that a niche market may be looking. Celine is known for the sleek and minimalistic design and these sunnies certainly fit that description. I like them and they are fairly big so if you have a small face, be smart to avoid this! But I can't help but love these!
Rating: 4 out of 5

You can buy the sunnies HERE or HERE.

Madonna in Ferragamo

It's been a while since I saw Madonna in a pair of sunglasses other than her MDG sunglasses. Not that it's bad but it's been there for a long time which proves how timeless the sunglasses are. Well, it seems she retired there for a few days (she wore MDG the next day haha!). She wore this going inside the Ritz Hotel (secretly hoping she was staying in the Coco Chanel suite!).

She was wearing a pair of black Ferragamo sunglasses SF 600s. Also spotted in the Spring 2012 campaign on Gisele Budchen in the color red.

They're not the most original pair of sunglasses design-wise. Everyone from Roberto Cavalli to high street shops like Zara and Topshops and even cheap drugstore sunglasses have these designs. But I guess it's that "Ferragamo" that screams on the temple that catches some peoples eyes. In the end, it's a great design that I'm sure people will still be buying. It has "classic" written all over it. Although that gap between the lens and the temples scream "THE UV RAYS WILL AGE YOUR EYES EVEN FASTER!" You can buy them here or here.

The Veiled Beanie!

I've been obsessing over those Stephen Jones for Jil Sander by Raf Simons veiled beanies that were shown on its Spting 2012 Runway. It can be bought here in the Philippines at Adora in Greenbelt 5 for whopping Php 20,000!!! So I decided to DIY! :)))

I simply followed the steps from Honestly WTF? Click here for instructions.

And the end results!

There you go! I've been wearing this with some of my outfits. I'll post it here and on my Lookbook page so watch out for that! :)

Dutch Style

THIS IS MY 600TH POST! YAY! CAN'T BELIEVE I HAD THE NERVE TO TALK FOR 600 POSTS TOO LONG! HAHAHAHAHA.... Back to your regularly scheduled program...

I only know "Dutch style" when paying for restaurant bills. It means everyone has to pay their share or in Filipino, "KKB = Kanya Kanyang Bayad." But this article from LifeHack certainly gives more insight on the Dutch state of mind. Usually, sayings in the native language can tell a lot about the culture of a country. This article is not mine but I just want to share it with you guys :)

Reaching Your Goals – Dutch Style
The famous ‘New Year’s Resolutions’ are upon us again, and those of us jaded enough to realize all our previous year’s failures may not even bother anymore. This is not a good strategy either, as it promotes fewer goals and dreams. It’s good to know the difference between a reasonable new year’s resolution – which is more like a goal – and one that is just plain silly: if you are 100 pounds overweight, you should probably not decide to run the marathon this year.
When you look at history, the Dutch have come quite far. Among them we have world famous painters, artists, explorers, and scientists. Can we learn a little something from the Dutch when it comes to reaching our goals? I think so…

“Don’t Think, But Do”

In Dutch there is a saying that goes: “Niet denken maar doen”, it means “Don’t think, but do.” Although it can be hard, it is this simple phrase that can get me through my most unmotivated moments. Whenever I have a long to-do list, and for some reason even the simplest task seems too daunting to tackle, I just try to stop thinking all together and start doing.
Easier said than done, you may think? Sure, but just give it a try. Often we are so busy finding reasons why we can’t (or don’t) do something, we spend more energy and time than we would just doing it.

“He who isn’t fast, has to be smart”

This is another famous Dutch saying. Because I grew up in Holland, I know all these little no-nonsense tricks in Dutch. This one is originally: “Wie niet snel is moet slim zijn.”
I’m sure a similar saying exists in English and most other languages, but few people really realize how true it is. If you know you have a weakness, you have to find a hack to get around it. Compensation, if you will, would be a good way to describe putting this old truth into action. If you know you are poor at organizing, go shopping for the easiest filing tools that will force you to be more organized. People who don’t have time to read books can listen to audiobooks while commuting. There are endless examples for this concept, and all it takes is just a tiny bit of creativity.

“Procrastination leads to cancellation”

Although this phrase is very loosely translated from “van uitstel komt afstel” in Dutch, the meaning is entirely preserved. It is one of my favorites, because it also happens to be true. How many times did you delay a task, just to basically fail to finish it altogether? Usually, I procrastinate with tasks that are important. This has come back to bite me more than once, often leading to missing a deadline to sign up for something.
The only way to reach your goals is to set reasonable sub-goals and tackle those as soon as you can. This goes back to the first saying. When we allow ourselves too much time to think about an unpleasant task, we are less and less inclined to actually get ourselves into gear and just do it.

Why learn from the Dutch?

Aside from the fact I am Dutch, and this is my first post on Lifehack (so you might as well find out a little bit about me), the Dutch are a very no-nonsense and unforgiving society that will always tell you things just the way they are. If a Dutch person thinks you are a bit lazy, you’re more than likely to hear it out loud. Is it a bad thing? Not always… we definitely get the job done.
Most importantly, and many people can learn from this, the Dutch have a “can-do” attitude and don’t easily make excuses. If you don’t reach a goal, you shouldn’t blame the weather, your job, or your health. Just do it, you are the only one responsible for your success.

Superlate Updates!

1. Valentino has been purchased for $858 million! Wowza! It was bought by Mayhoola for Investments which is controlled by the Royal Family of Qatar
2. The Olympic outfits designed by Ralph Lauren has been causing quite a stir. It's because
a. THEY ARE MADE IN CHINA! (WHAT THE?)
b. THEY ARE WEARING FRENCH BERETS!

How Americana of you Ralph? Oh well, I was secretly hoping Marc Jacobs would design the Olympic outfits but maybe it's the Polo shirts that sold him.

FRIDAY THE 13TH

I'M BACK BITCHES!
But not that much!
Anyways... it was the Great Northern Sale. Remember that? Click here.
I got great stuff from the sale courtesy of the majore reductions from Oxygen. Will post the outfits in the coming days. AND OF COURSE I GOTTA BUY SUNNIES!!!!

AND THEY'RE MICHAEL MICHAEL KORS WILMETTE SUNGLASSES. YES, THE MICHAEL IS DOUBLE. It's the diffusion line. Anyway, here are the pics of the sunnies from the internet.

I got the sunnies in black but I'm searching now for the white pair! haha!
The pictures are not mine. I got them from an ebay site. So there. :)

I super love the "MK" charm on the side of the sunnies. I want the white one now! The charm in the black sunnies is in silver and I WANT GOLD! HAHA!

These sunnies can be teamed with your most punk outfit to your Chanel couture dress and not even Ray-Bans can do that (in my honest and humble but correct opinion).

They're very cheap. The original price is Php 3,990 (95.01 USD) -> 50% off from L'OPTIQUE PARIS IN SM THE BLOCK ---> Php 1,995 (47.50 USD) ---> Tres cheap! :D

L'Optique Paris has branches in Podium, The Block, and North Wing in Cebu :)
I bought my Vintage Cazal in L'Optique Paris in The Podium. Remember that? Click here.

SUNGLASSES HEAVEN! I'M IN SUNGLASSES HEAVEN! :))
Have a good day everyone!
