DIOR COUTURE VS DIOR COUTURE

I know couture has been passe now because everyone's talking about the Fall 2013 RTW now but I would just like to discuss this like the know-it-all I feel I am. Haha!

It's the Dior Couture Spring 2013 by Raf Simons vs Dior Couture Fall 2010 by John Galliano. Both were inspired by Dior's Garden. And obviously, these two have different interpretations.

I'll show a side by side photos of their collection (not all). The left ones are from the Fall 2010 while the right ones are from the Spring 2013 collection but I'm sure you know just by looking at the designs ;)

The first looks from the collection. Just from the start you know Galliano will take you on a ride. ;)

The final looks. Quite surprised about the Spring 2013 choice. I think the dress that came before this was a much better finale dress. I was also puzzled by the decision to include 2 pantsuits (again) in this collection. He already had it in the Fall 2012 collection (sign of fillers?)

Looking at it, Galliano made a more dramatic interpretation but less wearable (although the second to the last dress with that blue skirt is my fave and is sure to be a red carpet best dressed) while Simons made a tame interpretation but wearable borderlining on boring and RTW-ish that even Topshop can reproduce. Imagine that? A couture-like dress for $100?

I vote for Galliano even though I love Simons' design in menswear.

What are your thoughts???

Spring 2013 Fashion Week in a Nutshell

First of all, I'm sorry that it took me one week to post again. Haha! Been very busy lately but don't worry, I'm still making sure to perform my blogging duties. :)

I'm sure all you fashionphiles out there know what happened this fashion week. This fashion week has more drama than any fashion week ever with a lot of debuts since last season had a lot of "departures."

Let's highlight the special events of the season: (Photos from style.com)

1. Liberty at Alexander Wang- Liberty Ross shocked everyone when she walked at NYFW particularly Alexander Wang. And as a closer, Wang showed glow in the dark dresses! Perfect for those parties huh?

2. THE SUPE IS HERE! - Naomi Campbell opens Zac Posen's show.

3.  Burberry goes metallic- Burberry went with metallics in a lot of hues! Way to go Christopher Bailey! :)

4. Prada is turning Japanese - after the art deco collection, Miuccia Prada showed an array of Japanese inspired dresses completed with floral prints, floral sunglasses, and those shoes to die for!

5. Jil Sander is back at Jil Sander- Jil Sander is back at her own label and made sure she's back.

6. Beth Ditto performs for Versus

7. Hakaan lost his collection- This is very devastating. As in THE WHOLE COLLECTION WAS LOST IN TRANSPORT! If it was stolen, shame on you! :(

8. People of fashion vs Cathy Horyn- Cathy Horyn was banned from the Saint Laurent show and Oscar de la Renta also had his share with Cathy Horyn. This one's a hot highlight! :)

9. Raf Simons debut RTW for Dior - J'adore this collection! It's a departure from his Jil Sander line but still has that Dior taste! :)

10.  Hedi for SLP - Hedi Slimane showed his debut collection for Saint Laurent. He squeezed the DNA of Saint Laurent. There were a lot of wearable clothes and it has promise.

11. The buzz at McQueen - Literally! The bee is here! Haha! I SUPER LOVE IT! :D

12. Chanel hula-hoops to the beach-each! - Chanel surely updated its bag to the maxima!

13. Checkerboards for you, Stripes for me- Marc Jacobs and his collection for Louis Vuitton always has this sense of continuity and it was further strengthened with this season's collection.

14. Celine is in! Fur for spring? Only by Celine!
What was your highlight of the season?

FASHION CHANGES UP!

So... a lot of changes are happening for Spring 2013.
It's Raf Simons last collection for Jil Sander. Sad! :( And the collection is one of the best. And the flowers? Is it a foreshadowing of how things are to happen

Anyways, the person who will replace Raf Simons is Jil Sander herself. After her collection for Uniqlo, she's back to her own house. I guess it's because they're not under the Prada group anymore.

And... STEFANO PILATI IS OUT OF YSL. Yes, Fall 2012 will be his last collection. :( After his consistent run with YSL, he's out. Rumors are Hedi Slimane will replace him. We'll just see what Stefano has in store for his last collection. Although he has a thing for bloggers you know? :)))) I still love you Stefano. Will Stefano be at Dior?

Well....
THE RUMORS ARE NOW BACK BECAUSE RAF SIMONS IS OUT OF JIL SANDER STRENGTHENING THE RAF SIMONS FOR DIOR RUMORS.
BUT.....

The new rumor is CHRISTOPHER KANE is being considered for Dior.
With these rumors, it's hard to be Bill Gayten. People still want you out of such a prestigious house. We'll just have to see with his Fall 2012 collection if it can stand with the Fall 2011 collection, Galliano's last collection for Dior. :)
